I was always brought up that when you are in a group do as much as the rider doing the least. Which basicly means that if everyone is giving it 100% you give a hundred percent. If everyone is giving 75% then you give 75%. If you don't and everyone is letting you do all the hard work the next hill you come to they will ride off and leave you.
